Overview
Airtable Automations is a built-in feature of Airtable that allows users to create automated workflows triggered by database events. It removes the need for third-party tools like Zapier for many internal processes (e.g., sending an email when a status changes).
Pricing & Free Tier
Free Tier: Yes. Includes 100 automation runs per month.
Team Plan: $20/user/month. Increases limits to 25,000 runs per month.
Business Plan: $45/user/month. Adds 100,000 runs and advanced conditional logic.
How to Use
- Open your Airtable base and click "Automations" in the top bar.
- Choose a Trigger (e.g., "When a record matches a condition").
- Add an Action (e.g., "Send an email" or "Create a record in another table").
- Test the automation and turn it on.
Important Notes
- Run Limits: 100 runs on the free tier is very low. If you have a busy database, you will burn through this quickly and your automations will pause.
- Complexity: For very complex branching logic, Airtable Automations can become visual spaghetti. Zapier or Make are sometimes better for highly complex workflows.
