About

Overview

Alfred is a productivity application for macOS that boosts your efficiency through hotkeys, keywords, and text expansion. It acts as a powerful replacement for Spotlight, allowing you to launch apps, search the web, and run custom workflows.

Pricing & Free Tier

Free Tier: Yes. Includes basic app launching and web searches.
Powerpack: £34 one-time purchase (no subscription). Unlocks custom workflows, clipboard history, and file actions.

How to Use

  1. Install Alfred and map it to Cmd + Space (replacing Spotlight).
  2. Type a keyword to launch apps or search Google.
  3. With the Powerpack, type Clipboard to view your copy history.
  4. Create custom workflows using the visual drag-and-drop editor.

Important Notes

  • Powerpack Required: Without the one-time Powerpack purchase, Alfred is just a slightly better Spotlight. The magic happens in the premium workflows.
  • VS Raycast: Raycast has emerged as a modern competitor with a free extension store. Alfred relies on community-built workflows.
