Overview
Cloudflare is a global cloud network providing CDN, DDoS mitigation, Internet security, and distributed DNS services. It acts as a reverse proxy, protecting your origin server while speeding up content delivery.
Pricing & Free Tier
Free Tier: Yes, extremely generous. Includes unmetered DDoS protection, global CDN, and free SSL certificates.
Pro Plan: $20/month. Adds Web Application Firewall (WAF), image optimization, and faster support.
Business/Enterprise: Starts at $200/month with advanced routing and 100% uptime SLA.
How to Use
- Sign up at cloudflare.com.
- Enter your domain and choose a plan (Free).
- Cloudflare will scan your existing DNS records.
- Update your domain registrar's nameservers to the ones provided by Cloudflare.
- Turn on the "Orange Cloud" to proxy traffic.
Important Notes
- Proxy Settings: DNS records proxied through Cloudflare (orange cloud) will hide your origin IP, but might block non-standard ports or cause redirect loops if SSL is misconfigured.
- Terms of Service: The free tier is intended for HTML delivery, not for streaming large amounts of video or serving as a bulk file host.
