About

Overview

Google Fonts is a free, open-source library featuring over 1,500 font families. It provides an easy-to-use API to embed fonts into websites, ensuring fast load times and a consistent typography experience across all browsers.

Pricing & Free Tier

Free Tier: Yes. All fonts in the library are 100% free for both personal and commercial use (Open Font License).
Google Workspace: You can also add these fonts to Google Docs/Sheets if you use Google Workspace.

How to Use

  1. Go to fonts.google.com.
  2. Select a font family and click "Get font".
  3. Copy the generated <link> tag and paste it into your website's <head> section.
  4. Apply the font family using CSS (e.g., font-family: "Roboto", sans-serif;).

Important Notes

  • Privacy: By default, Google Fonts are hosted by Google and track the IP addresses of your visitors. You can self-host the fonts (download and serve from your server) to avoid GDPR issues in Europe.
  • Performance: Loading too many font weights (e.g., Light, Regular, Bold, Black) will significantly slow down your page load speed.
