About
Overview
Accurate shipping estimates are critical for e-commerce profitability. If you undercharge for shipping, you eat the cost. If you overcharge, you lose the sale. Our Shipping Cost Calculator helps sellers on Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, and eBay determine the exact cost of sending a package, taking into account actual weight, package dimensions, and hidden carrier surcharges.
How to Use This Calculator
- Unit System: Choose Imperial (US) or Metric (International). The input fields will automatically update.
- Actual Weight & Dimensions: Enter the physical weight and the box dimensions (Length x Width x Height).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Volumetric (Dimensional) Weight?
Carriers charge based on the space your package takes up, not just its physical weight. If you ship a large but lightweight item (like a pillow), the carrier will use "Volumetric Weight." Our tool automatically calculates this and charges you based on whichever is higher: actual weight or volumetric weight.
What is a Residential Surcharge?
Major carriers like UPS and FedEx charge an extra fee (usually $3 to $6) for delivering to a home address instead of a commercial business address. Always include this in your calculations when shipping B2C (Business to Consumer).
Why are remote area fees so high?
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and rural ZIP codes have limited logistics networks. Carriers apply Remote Area Surcharges (often $10 to $50+) to cover the extra cost of transporting goods there.
How accurate is this estimate?
This tool provides a highly accurate mathematical estimate based on your inputs. However, actual carrier rates fluctuate based on fuel surcharges, seasonal peak fees, and negotiated account discounts.
