Overview

Twilio is a cloud communications platform as a service (CPaaS). It provides APIs for developers to programmatically make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, and perform other communication functions using web service APIs.

Free Tier: No. It is pay-as-you-go.
Pricing: SMS starts around $0.0079 per message (US). Phone numbers cost roughly $1.15/month. Voice calls are billed per minute.

How to Use

1. Sign up at twilio.com and get a trial phone number.
2. Use the Twilio Console to write code or use the SDK in your app.
3. To send an SMS, make an HTTP POST request to the Twilio API with your Account SID, Auth Token, and the destination number.

Important Notes

• Trial Limits: Trial accounts can only send messages to verified phone numbers. You must upgrade to a paid account to send messages to unverified users.
• Complexity: Twilio is designed for developers. It is not a plug-and-play marketing tool like Mailchimp.
