About
Overview
Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform deeply integrated into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. It combines workplace chat, video meetings, file storage, and application integration, making it the standard for enterprise communication.
Pricing & Free Tier
Free Tier (Classic): Yes. Includes unlimited chat, 100 participants, and 5GB storage per user.
Microsoft 365 Business Basic: $6/user/month. Adds 1TB cloud storage and web/mobile versions of Office apps.
Enterprise: Starts at $36/user/month with advanced security and analytics.
How to Use
- Download the Teams desktop app or use the web version.
- Create a "Team" and add "Channels" for different topics.
- Start a chat or click "Meet" to start an instant video call.
- Upload files directly in the chat; they are saved to SharePoint automatically.
Important Notes
- Resource Usage: Teams is known to be heavy on RAM and CPU. On older laptops, the web version often performs better than the desktop app.
- Guest Access: Inviting external users as "Guests" can be complex and sometimes blocked by corporate security policies.
